 Dear Friends,

A new year is always an exciting time, to review our past accomplishments and look towards the future with new ideas and goals.  Our annual General Membership meeting on Saturday, February 13 was a time for this.  We had a wonderful time talking to friends and families and making new acquaintances.

Through the years, the EPDSC has made great strides in helping individuals with Down syndrome and their families by improving medical outcomes with medical examinations and advice to our members, and being a source of information and inspiration.  For the new year we would like to continue to promote awareness and acceptance of people with Down syndrome.  We are even looking into putting the EPDSC on Facebook.  We continue to work on creating more opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome, the diligent work of our staff trying to create a postsecondary education program at East Stroudsburg University is a prime example.  We have also been working with the administrators of the Bring Your Own Sibling Program (BYOS) as they work to create a social outlet for young adults with Down syndrome and their siblings.  The Center is also working on offering a ‘Lose the Training Wheels Program’ over the summer for  our kids to learn to ride a two wheel bike.

We were also excited to discuss our upcoming Home, Health & Future conference which will provide a wealth of information to medical professionals, educations, support staff, care givers, parents, family members and friends of individuals with Down syndrome.  There will also be a self-advocate conference!

Once again our two big fundraisers for the Center are the Golf Tournament and the Buddy Walk.  We continue to appreciate any and all volunteerism as your diligence and dedication are the foundations of the Center.

Congratulations to Bobby Lanyon our newly elected Board member, we are excited to have you join our team!

In our newsletter and on our website, we will continue to provide you with the most up-to-date information while working to ensure that our membership has as many opportunities as possible.  The EPDSC will always support the Ds community through our comprehensive medical evaluations, support to families, education through clinics and conferences, and advocacy.  Thank you for supporting our endeavors.

God Bless,
Keither Frisch
